Pineapple Love Cookies

1 Cup shortening

3 ½ cups Gold Medal Flour

1 ½ cups Sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. soda

1 can (8 ¾ oz.) crushed pineapple and juice

½ tsp. salt,

¼ tsp. nutmeg

½ cup chopped nuts * 

 

Mix together the shortening, sugar, and egg thoroughly.

Add pineapple and stir.

Stir together flour, soda, salt, and nutmeg to blend.

Mix in nuts.

Chill at least 1 hr.

Preheat the oven to 460°.

Drop a rounded teaspoonful of dough about 2” apart on a lightly greased 

baking sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 min., or until no imprint of fork remains when touched lightly.

Makes about 5 doz.
